The Little Things

(TribuTerry Sam)
2004
Terry Swarn
Oh I, check out the sunshine, check out the rain
Bad times, fun times
Pleasure and pain, they're both the same
From both I gain, and grateful I remain
I may seem crazy but I know that I'm not
To go a little crazy's what I've always been taught
Because the little things matter a lot
And the little things are all that I got

I stop to smell the flowers, growing side by side
I feel their healing powers
The rain the sky has cried, plants are satisfied
The sun looks on with pride, lifelessness has died
Sometimes we never seem to give it a thought
Might seem as tiny as a dot on a dot
But it's the little things that matter a lot
And the little things are all that I got

Check the little children, growing up so fast
But speed will kill them
Crash after crash, fragile as glass
And so myself I ask, am I equal to the task
It's hard to overcome it but I'll give it a shot
I can't drop it like a little coin in a slot
Because the little ones matter a lot
And the little ones are all that we got

I irrigate the landscape, I cultivate my mind
I plant the seeds with handshakes
Through schizophrenic times
Of progress and decline
I note the warning signs
And endeavor to be kind
So let me hear you now
Give it all you got now, with a little thought now
Little means a lot, bigger than a dot, in a dot
